A Message from Robert Faigin

Thank you for your interest in the campaign to elect Robert Faigin Chula Vista’s City Attorney. This is an exciting time for Chula Vista. By a solid majority, Chula Vista voters passed Proposition Q, declaring the City Attorney should be "sufficiently independent of the Council and other City officials."

I like what the citizens of Chula Vista are doing, and I want to be a part of it.

My experience has given me a solid foundation to serve as your City Attorney. I have spent the past nine years serving as the Chief Attorney to the Sheriff. In that role, I have successfully managed the legal affairs of a large government entity that is similar in interests to the City of Chula Vista. In addition to advising the Sheriff and his staff on a wide array of law enforcement and detentions issues, my role has also included vital public sector concerns such as risk management, policy development, litigation, release of public records, human resource and labor/management relations and much more. With such a strong background in public safety, I hope you will agree that I am uniquely qualified to protect your interests by serving as your independent City Attorney.

I intend to bring to the Office of City Attorney three core values.

  • Honesty - With a distinguished record of honorably serving cities and counties, I will work tirelessly to restore your trust in elected officials.
  • Independence - As the only candidate with no ties to current city officials, I am in the best position to give truly independent legal advice - untainted by competing obligations or loyalties.
  • Open Government - I will broadly interpret statutes, court rule or other authority in a manner that furthers your access to information concerning the conduct of the people’s business.

If you are looking for a City Attorney who recognizes that you are my most important client, then I would ask for your support now and when you vote on June 8th.
