Web Features - Text Enhancements

The basic web page consists of text, pictures and links. There is so much more you can add to your site to make it interesting, attractive and useful for your visitors. Please click any of the icons below to see some of the extras available for your site. Be sure to ask if there is something you don't see.

Your new site will be built to maximize standardization between pages. For example, you will notice throughout this site, all normal paragraph text appears in this size, font, and color. This enables the designer to make global changes to your site with simple commands.

Heading Text

One of the more visible text enhancements is the use of Heading text of varying sizes. This is important as some search engines look at Heading text when determining the importance of key words appearing in search results. Standard Heading text looks like the following, though the exact font, color and size can be set by the web builder.

Text Styling

There is almost no limit to the styling that can be applied to text appearing on your site. Styling can range from simple bold and italics, the more complex styling listed below.

Tool Tips
Text can be embedded in your code so that when passing your cursor over a link, section of text or an image, text will pop up giving the viewer added information. Try it HERE.
Computer Code
When giving your visitors instructions on entering computer text, it is helpful to set the text apart visually.     Computer text can be displayed like this.
Abbreviations
Instead of using footnotes as you would with a word processor, when your text includes content that may be unfamiliar to users, you can embed an abbreviation. Try it; see what NASA stands for.
Subscript and Superscript
Characters can be offset for technical applications in math and science applications. Superscript looks like this.    Subscript looks like this.
Text Decoration
It is occasionally necessary to publish changes to documents. It is customary to show additions in underline, and deletions in strikeout text.     Text can be displayed in various colors, and with different background colors. You can even make your text blink, though I wouldn't do that very often.
Word Spacing
You can manipulate the spacing of your text to ADD EMPHASIS BY STRETCHING THE TEXT, or condense your text to make the best use of limited space.

Blockquote

“A blockquote is normally a paragraph of text indented on both ends to stand apart from its surrounding text. You can also specify background colors, images or other styling elements to make the quote stand out.”
